New website and My Blog is Moving too.

I have finally liberated my website from the clutches of IMcreator and built a new one with Weebly. Weebly I might add are fantastic, their sites are extremely easy to build, AND to update. You can see my new website at www.rosemarymortimer.com  or by following the website link on the side of the page. The site also has a blog attached to it, so I will still post here for a bit longer but gradually move over to that blog. Currently it just has one post on it for testing but on July 8th I leave for my exhibition in Cadaques. First stop is Venice, and then on to Cadaques for the opening on July 18th. After that I will be heading for Barcelona and a residency at redPoint. I'll be posting photo's of my trip, my work and  with my experiences on this exciting journey.

I've finally finished, packed and posted thirty two prints for my solo exhibition at Taller Galeria Fort, Cadaques, Spain. There is still some work to do, flattening and preparing extra unframed prints, but I'm very happy that one of each print is safely there and being framed ready for my opening on July 18th.

I'll be spending a week in Venice before the show, having a look at the Biennale, then I will travel to Cadaques for the opening and also to be one of the judges of the 2015 Miniprint International of Cadaques. After that I will probably spend some time in Barcelona. It's a great time for me to go as it's winter here, so I will have 5 weeks of summer fun and relaxation...and maybe a bit of work too.

I am very excited to have been chosen (for my collagraph print, 'Interface III') as one of six winners of the 34th Mini Print International of Cadaqués 2014, selected from 740 exhibiting artists from 56 countries. Paper on Paper, a dialogue

An infinite exchange between surfaces, with paper the material, ink the medium of translation …and printmaking the voice.

This series of prints develops a variation of relief printing, where instead of ink being rolled onto the surface of a plate, the ink is ‘offset’ printed onto a surface, and then printed again, in multiple layers and variations. These works challenge the traditional ethos of prints as an edition of near identical images, from a single matrix. Infinitely re-arranged, reversed, and printed in various layers and colours… no two are the same. Yet they are not monotypes, standing completely alone.

I have numbered the edition in the usual way, using EV (edition variable), to show that within the edition, the prints have significant differences. They are original prints in the accepted sense but they are also individual images, falling only loosely within the structure of an edition. Initial developmental prints are labelled as artists proofs.
